Ocean Youth Trust Vessel Refit

Can you help with sanding, painting and basic maintenance on a charity’s boat in Southampton? Anything from a day to full-time help needed until 20th March.

Ocean Youth Trust South (www.oytsouth.org) is a charity working with young people aged 12-25, many of them disadvantaged or vulnerable, offering sailing voyages as a personal development opportunity.

Our 72-foot vessel, John Laing, is being refitted in Southampton, and at the start of the winter we recruited a team of volunteers to help us full-time in exchange for accommodation, food and boat maintenance experience. But some of our key volunteers were so good that they have been offered paid work elsewhere and had to leave us – leaving us very short of people to get the work finished in time!

We MUST have everything done by 20th March as we have voyages booked after that date. Skilled and unskilled volunteers needed – if you can help with painting and cleaning then we would love to see you! Email refit@oytsouth.org for more information.
